Free Chapbook for #NationalPoetryMonth

As usual, with National Poetry Month chugging along, I would like to share some of my work for free. Most of the time I make From Where I Stand the month’s freebie. But I think most people have that at this point. This time around, Winter’s Homecoming and Other Poems is free if you head over to Smashwords. All month. No cost. Though, if anyone still needs From Where I Stand and can’t afford a copy right now, please let me know. I’m sure I could be persuaded to send you a coupon code for it, too.

I hope to share more deals from other poets throughout the month. So, if you’re a poet with something you’d like me to share on the blog in April, message me through the contact form. We’re here to celebrate poetry in all its forms for the next few weeks!

If you grab a copy of the book, as all authors like to say, and you’d like to leave an honest review (positive, negative, long, short, whatever) when you’re done…I’d greatly appreciate it. But no review is also perfectly fine. I don’t review most of what I read lately, to be honest. Especially poetry. I have a hard time reviewing that stuff, so I don’t expect anyone to beat themselves up trying to write reviews for it.

Ok, enough of that. You want the link to that chapbook don’t you? Here it is, and a little about it.

Winter’s Homecoming and Other Poems is an eight poem chapbook by Robert Zimmermann. In this insightful new collection, Zimmermann shares his love and appreciation for the beauty of nature and the changing of seasons, as well as the endless search for happiness.

Grab your copy, in all formats, buy clicking below.

(To get this free, there’s a coupon code by the buy button on the Smashwords page. Just copy and past it into the box provided on the cart page to get it reduced to $0.00, or buy it for the $0.99 if you’d like to. And if you run into any trouble, let me know. I’ll do my best to help.)

It’s My Birthday. Here’s Your Present!

Today’s my birthday. But if you think I’m going to ask for you to get me a present, don’t. I’m here to give you all a present if you’d like one.

For the next week, you can get one or both of my poetry collections for free. You can buy one and get the other free. Buy both, get the normal freebies free. Or grab both for free along with the other permanently free titles. It’s up to you. Everything I’ve published has been discounted to $0.99 for some time now, so it’s a steal even if you’re seeing this post after the birthday period is over.

Enough rambling. I know a few of you are eager to get to the free stuff! Here are the links and coupon codes to get both From Where I Stand and Winter’s Homecoming and Other Poems for free over on Smashwords. Feel free to comment or send me a message (through here or one of my social media accounts) if you have any issue with the codes or other questions.

Do we make money writing/publishing poetry? No, no we don’t. A few of us might, at least a little bag full o’ gold every now and then.

But that’s not what it’s really about, is it? If you take one thing away from Poetry Month, I hope it’s this: We write, read, and experience poetry because we want to and have to. It’s in our nature to. And as poets the need is stronger. Putting it out in the world is an added bonus. Making a few pennies off of it helps too.

In order to help make poetry even more accessible, I like to offer my work free as often as I see the need. This month, I’m doing just that. I already have two published single poems. Those are I WOULD and WORDS (click the titles to find buy links). As an added bonus, I’m offering From Where I Stand for free, too!

If you need/want a copy, head on over to Smashwords and use the coupon code I’ll post in a moment at checkout. It’ll bring the price down to $0.00 and then you can download whatever ebook format you’d like for any device. If you need help on that, just let me know and I’ll help out.

If you need/want a copy, and don’t want to get it free, you’re more than welcome to buy it for not-free. The ebook is only $1.99 now (on Amazon, $2.99 everywhere else. I don’t sell elsewhere anyway, but I’ll lower the price if people need me to.) Or grab the book in print from Createspace for $5.99. It’s pretty much the lowest I can price is without losing money. (And buying direct from CS helps out the authors MUCH more than going to Amazon, so please consider spending your hard earned money there instead. Authors get more royalties at CS on the same amount you’d be spending on Amazon. Not just my book, but every book.)

Ok, that turned into a “this is the best way to support authors” rant. Enough about that. READ MORE POETRY! Bottom. Line.

2015 Recap: #ShortStories Read

That’s right. Here is the list of short stories I read in 2015. It took me too long to put this post together, so I hope you all get some use out of the list. It’s not easy to copy and paste this much data and the table itself…then search the internet for all the stories to link. Most are linked, and the authors’ websites are linked too. A few are not linked because it seems stories have been unpublished/taken down since the time I read them. Not exactly sure what’s up with that, but I’m not those authors, so I can’t tell you the reasoning.

Either way, there are 203 total stories listed and probably around 190 you can go out and read. 90% (estimate) are free to read. Many of them were also audio-reads found on Librivox. I could have linked to the free audio, but instead I stuck with ebook links. It was a little faster that way. Definitely check out Librivox anyway. Thousands of free audiobooks of public domain work. No reason to stay away from that!

I might do a Best of 2015 sort of post soon. I’m still not sure about that. At the very least, I’ll be posting on Facebook/Twitter to highlight some of the more memorable reads from 2015. Without a clear plan in mind, I figured getting you this list would be somewhat helpful in the year to come. Single short stories tend to go unappreciated in the grand scheme. I’ll always try to keep up short story awareness (should I hashtag that?).

Enjoy, if you check some out. And enjoy 2016!

P.S – Don’t forget about the bottom of the post. There’s a question down there…

Question: Have you read any of these? I read a WIDE variety of stories (ok, and technically single published poems, but I count those) in 2015. So many genres are present here. I’d love to hear about some of your favorite short stories you read in 2015. I’m always on the look-out for more. It’s a great way to get over a book slump or to kill a few minutes of the day when a novel can’t really be tackled.

Back from NY. It’s My Birthday. Want #Free Books?

I’m back from my New York trip to be at my brother’s wedding…which I ended up being the best man for. Got back home yesterday afternoon after being awake (aside from a few hours here and there) since Friday morning. So I definitely passed out for a long time last night. But I woke up…and it’s my birthday!

I didn’t get to reading much of what I planned for the plane rides. I had the Kindle filled with a good amount of stories, but I tried a few and couldn’t get into them. I guess I’m just more picky than I thought when stuffed into a plane. But I’ll revisit them down the road. I did start an ARC for Tara Sivec’s new book (comes out soon) and it’s GREAT so far. Just how I knew it’d be. I’ll finish that up this week and show you all my review.

But enough about the past. What about today: my birthday? Well, you could all give me presents (I wouldn’t tell you no). However, I like doing something different on my birthdays. I like to offer my books for free. I do this at other random times of the year and barely anyone takes advantage of the opportunity, but maybe today will be different. Two of my poems and an erotic flash fiction story are always free from me. Today I’m adding my two poetry collections to the list. But TODAY ONLY! They’ll be free for the rest of October! So hurry! All the links you need will be below. Please share it with your friends and even strangers if you know any (ha…ha…I’m so funny).

#PoetryMonth: A little help? and a #free ebook

Poetry Month FB Banner fancy lineresize

Hi everyone! You’ve probably seen that I put my poem Words out as an ebook. It was already posted here and on Wattpad, but some people like reading on ereaders more than a computer screen, so I wanted to make this a free poem to take with you everywhere you go.

The poem is already published and FREE on Smashwords, B&N, and Kobo (hopefully iBooks soon, but they’re slow with that stuff). It’s also published on Amazon, but as we all know, in order to get a book free (not through KDP Select) it needs to be reported as being free elsewhere for them to price match it. That’s where you, my generous fans, come in.

If I could have a few minutes of your time (today and if you can, for as many days as it take to make this happen), would you head on over to Amazon and tell them about the lower price? If you haven’t done with before, it’s simple. At the end of the “Product Details” section of the Amazon page, you’ll find the “tell us about a lower price” option. Simple click that, paste the link to the free book, and type 0.00 into the other two boxes. Then repeat for the other stores. Amazon pages more attention to B&N and Kobo, and normally doesn’t give a shit about Smashwords. So if you can only do one or two, please do those two first. And again, the most often you can do this, and the most people who help, the faster this process will be 🙂 Then my Kindle user fans can grab the book free! But for now, you can grab the mobi from Smashwords and read it on your Kindle, as well.

Below, you’ll find all the links you need. And I’d like to thank you in advance for anything you can do to help. Please share this with your friends if you can, as well. Maybe they’ll enjoy the poem if they check it out. Maybe you will 🙂 If you’d like to review it as well (I know it’s hard to review a short piece, but even a few words would be a great big help) please feel free to do so.

#PoetryMonth: I’ve published Words

Back in January I shared my poem Words on the blog. I originally wrote this and planned to put in a collection A Sense of Fall. I haven’t gotten much work done on the collection, but I wanted to get some “new” work out there in the world.

I put Words out as an ebook over on Smashwords, today. It’s just a single poem, nothing special, just like the freebie I Would. It should be at other stores in the coming days and I’ll link those they’re live.

For now, if you’d like to read the poem again, on your ereader this time, head on over to Smashwords and grab a copy. And please, share it around with your friends. It’s a great way to get readers into poetry for National Poetry Month, without the intimidation of a full collection to read. And as always, if you read it, and enjoyed it (or not) please consider leaving a quick review. Even on a single poem, a quick review can help out other readers.

Hope you enjoy this little treat. I’m sure I’ll have more to share soon.
