From New York Times bestselling author Karina Halle comes DIRTY SOULS the much-anticipated, nail-biting CONCLUSION to the sexy and thrilling Black Hearts…”One of the SEXIEST & MOST SEDUCTIVE books I HAVE EVER READ.” – Jay Crownover.

Violet McQueen has always been a sensitive soul. Troubled and misunderstood, she never realized her place in the world, nor her true potential…until she met Vicente Bernal.

From birth, Vicente Bernal has always known his place in the world – he’s been groomed to be a ruthless king. Yet for a man whose soul has become morally bankrupt, it’s only through Violet he’s realizing the worth of someone’s heart.

But at what cost?

With a deadly game set in motion taking them from the stark deserts of California to the steamy jungles of Mexico, Violet and Vicente’s forbidden relationship will be put to the test. Boundaries will be pushed, lines will be crossed and souls will get very, very dirty.

Because how do you choose between blood and love when both might get you killed?

NOTE: Dirty Souls is the second and FINAL book in the Sins Duet. You MUST read book #1, BLACK HEARTS, first before this one!

From New York Times bestselling author Karina Halle comes a BRAND NEW standalone duet that will get your pulse racing.

For Vicente Bernal, truth is all he’s known. The son of an infamous drug lord, Vicente was born to help run the family business, which means he’s been raised on a throne of sordid pasts and dirty laundry, violence and pride. But when Vicente stumbles across someone he’s not supposed to know about – a woman from his father’s checkered past – he sets out to California to find her behind his father’s back.

What Vicente doesn’t expect to find in San Francisco is Violet McQueen, the woman’s twenty-year old daughter. Beautiful and edgy with a vulnerability he can’t resist, Violet tempts Vicente from afar and though he promised himself he’d stay away from her, curiosity and lust are powerful forces. Besides, Vicente has always gotten everything he wants – why shouldn’t he have Violet too?

Soon his wants turn into an obsession, one that sweeps Violet into his games as they fall madly, deeply in love with each other, the type of first love that can drive a person mad.

But it’s a love with tragic consequences.

Both the truth – and the lies – not only threaten to tear them apart, but threaten their very lives.

Someone has to pay for the sins of the fathers.

And they’ll be paying the price with their souls.

NOTE: BLACK HEARTS is BOOK ONE of the SINS DUET, with the sequel & conclusion, DIRTY SOULS, releasing on March 17, 2017.

#NewRelease: Sex, Love, and Rock n’ Roll, by Scott MacKenzie

Over the years you’ve known me to share books from Karina Halle. You may recall my reviews for Darkhouse and The Devil’s Metal. But I’m not here to share on of her books today. I’m here for something a bit more of a surprise, but a good surprise.

The book I want you all to know about today is by Scott MacKenzie, Karina’s husband. And it sounds like a great one. Be sure to check this one out. I’m also going to link to a future release co-written by both Scott and Karina. That’s one I’m going to be looking forward to as well. Find out about both below!

A STANDALONE FULL-LENGTH EROTIC ROMANCE – NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART

Enigmatic, wealthy and wickedly handsome, Jack Willow is more than just a talented musician.
He’s a man with a sordid past.
And a man of many dark secrets.
When he meets a seemingly innocent girl by the name of Leah, he pulls her into a secret sexual world, a world that will both test their limits and bring them together.
But Leah is not who she seems.
Neither is Jack.

TRIGGER WARNING: This book contains the POV of a very abrasive male protagonist. There are RAW and explicit scenes of sexual nature, including dubious consent, menage, BDSM-style situations, coarse language, etc and this book is NOT intended for sensitive readers. It gets DARK, it gets weird. There is a lot of crazy sexual scenes. As dark and twisted as this tale is though, it still is a love story. IF you can handle all of that, read on!

Special Note: The first half of this book was previously published as “House of Sin” by pen name Vince Stark. It has since been re-edited and is now combined with the second half to make Sex, Love and Rock n’ Roll.

Smut by @MetalBlonde is on Sale!

Yesterday, you may have read my post about Karina Halle’s Experiment in Terror series. The scary horror series that’s perfect for reading this time of year.

Well, that’s not all Halle likes to write about. She writes in a few other genres and I’d like to share one of those today. Her book Smut is a romantic comedy (one of my favorite subgenres of romance). And it’s also on sale for only $0.99 today. I haven’t gotten to reading it yet, but I have a copy. And I know that Halle’s a great writer. Will you check it out and experience this rom com with me?

What happens when the kink between the pages leads to heat between the sheets?

All Blake Crawford wants is to pass his creative writing course, get his university degree, and take over his dad’s ailing family business. What Amanda Newland wants is to graduate at the top of her class, as well as finally finish her novel and prove to her family that writing is a respectful career.

What Blake and Amanda don’t want is to be paired up with each other for their final project, but that’s exactly what they both get when they’re forced to collaborate on a writing piece. Since Amanda thinks Blake is a pushy asshole (with a panty-melting smirk and British accent) and Blake thinks Amanda has a stick up her ass (though it’s a brilliant ass), they fight tooth and nail until they discover they write well together. They also may find each other really attractive, but that’s neither here nor there.

When their writing project turns out to be a success, the two of them decide to start up a secret partnership using a pen name, infiltrating the self-publishing market in the lucrative genre of erotica. Naturally, with so much heat and passion between the pages, it’s not long before their dirty words become a dirty reality. Sure, they still fight a lot, but at least there’s make-up sex now.

But even as they start to fall hard for each other, will their burgeoning relationship survive if their scandalous secret is exposed? Or are happily-ever-afters just a work of fiction?

There’s always been something a bit off about Perry Palomino. Though she’s been dealing with a quarter-life crisis and post-college syndrome like any other twentysomething, she’s still not what you would call “ordinary.” For one thing, there’s her past which she likes to pretend never happened, and then there’s the fact that she sees ghosts. Luckily for her, that all comes in handy when she stumbles across Dex Foray, an eccentric producer for an upcoming webcast on ghost hunters. Even though the show’s budget is non-existent and Dex himself is a maddening enigma, Perry is instantly drawn into a world that both threatens her life and seduces her with a sense of importance. Her uncle’s haunted lighthouse provides the perfect catalyst and backdrop for a horrific mystery that unravels the threads of Perry’s fragile sanity and causes her to fall for a man, who, like the most dangerous of ghosts, may not be all that he seems.

They say when life closes one door, another one opens.
This door happens to lead to paradise.
And a man I can never, ever have.

Still grieving the loss of her sister who died two years ago, the last thing Veronica “Ronnie” Locke needed was to lose her job at one of Chicago’s finest restaurants and have to move back in with her parents. So when a window of opportunity opens for her – running a kitchen at a small Hawaiian hotel – she’d be crazy not to take it.

The only problem is, the man running the hotel drives her crazy:

Logan Shephard.

It doesn’t matter that he’s got dark brown eyes, a tall, muscular build that’s sculpted from daily surfing sessions, and a deep Australian accent that makes your toes curl.

What does matter is that he’s a grump.

Kind of an asshole, too.

And gets under Ronnie’s skin like no one else.

But the more time Ronnie spends on the island of Kauai, falling in love with the lush land and its carefree lifestyle, the closer she gets to Logan. And the closer she gets to Logan, the more she realizes she may have pegged him all wrong. Maybe it’s the hot, steamy jungles or the invigorating ocean air, but soon their relationship becomes utterly intoxicating.

There’s just one major catch.

The two of them together would incite a scandal neither Ronnie, nor her family, would ever recover from.

Forbidden, Illicit, off-limits – sometimes the heat is worth surrendering to, even if you get burned.

Themed Book Recommendations: Romantic Comedies

It’s been a few week since I posted one of these. I’ve been trying to compile a few different recommendations lists and had to abandon some because I couldn’t fill them out enough. It’s a lot of work for one reader to do. No matter how diversely I’d like to think I read, I don’t read in as many different areas as I want to. Any help in the future would be great, whether it’s replying with recs on Twitter or Facebook, or messaging me through the blog with suggestions for themes and books.

This week, the theme is Romantic Comedies. We probably all know of a few. Probably enjoy them. We’ve probably laughed along with them each time. For the ones I’ve read, they’re always a good time and a good break from the heavier books I read. I hope that the books on this list can jump into your TBR to lighten up your reading.

Oh, and you’ll immediately notice this list is a little lopsided to a specific author. Well, she deserves all the mention, really. Tara Sivec has three Rom Com complete series out and I’ve read and loved all three. If you need proof, search the blog for my reviews of them (three books per series, plus a novella/story here and there).

I normally like to give equal attention to all on the list. It’s just hard to avoid that when Sivec is in the room. She’s a master of the genre. Plus, I haven’t read the other books…if you’d like me to be perfectly honest. Most are on my Kindle though. Most also come recommended by other readers. I can’t read everything I recommend 😉

Book_17

Find something you might want to read? I hope so. Want to see another set of recommendations focused on a theme? Let me know what that theme is, and if you can help with some recs for it, include them in the message.

Happy reading!
