From A Season of Sleep

Love is a part of life and without it we cannot live. It slips in and out of our lives in many different forms but always it touches us, leaving us forever altered. Never is it more potent than when it awakens something within us that we did not realize was there. Journey through that first yearning, to drowning in the discovery of it, to the pain felt upon its receding, to the realization of its affect upon us in From A Season of Sleep.

Now, here’s a taste of the collection…

The Sex Of Poetry

you fondle my brain
with a sweet caress,
to our intellectual intercourse.
you tease me with
your artful words
until I am stiff beneath their touch.
then with a syllable
you penetrate –
piercing my soul.
an ejaculation
of consonants and vowels,
the semen of your thought.
a rhythmic whisper
rising to a scream
with nails scratching down your back,
that leaves me gasping in the night
and burning in my bed,
clinging to your musky metaphor
as you echo through my head.

About the Author:

Growing up a somewhat lonely child out in the country, Sreya Bremtin kept herself entertained by voracious reading and an active imagination. Not having many friends to talk to other than the cats and dogs, she started writing in order to alleviate the excess of words swirling through her brain.

And she happened to be none-too-shabby at it.

Her earliest work debuted in third grade with a poem about a brown cat. From there she never really stopped. By high school, her creative writing teacher offered to be her literary agent both times she took the class.

Still, feeling like a little bitty fish in a very big pond, she kept her writing mostly to herself and got lost in everyday life. She met people, now and then, that would fan the spark of writing into flame once again. She would share her work with them. She would be inspired to write and write and write some more. But always, after a while, she would let it die back again to embers and return to the day to day grind.

Until finally, one day, she realized half her life was gone and she still wasn’t what she was meant to be. But now, she is determined enough to finish what she had started and get her work out there.

She has published three books featuring her poetry and photography: Where Moonflowers Bloom, The Tincture of a Radiant Madness and In Just a Few Small Words. She has several more poetry books, a flash fiction collection and a short story collection in the works. She also has several novels in progress as well and is currently focusing on a science fiction novel entitled Gleamers Madness.
