Authors We Love, Part X: The Queen on Zombies & More

It’s Tuesday morning, do you know where your brains are? Probably not turned on yet. But that’s only if you’re lucky. Most of your brains might have been torn from their skulls overnight. I know mine was, all thanks for our guest today. The Bookish Brunette is your friendly neighborhood brain-eating Zombie Queen!!!

Ok, ok. That all was a joke…most of it. She is in fact known as the Zombie Queen to her legions of devoted followers. To my knowledge though, she doesn’t eat brains…I hope….let’s just move on. Since the Queen is here she’s been kind enough to bend the rules and bombard you with a few great authors that are sure to rock your faces off and THEN blow your minds.

Here she is, talking about some authors (I’ve been needing to check out), zombies, and a little but more.

Hi everyone, I’m Ash from The Bookish Brunette… I’m here to talk about my favorite authors… because I know it’s SUPER crucial to everyone! Enjoy!

Rhiannon Frater

The First Days (As The World Dies: A Zombie Trilogy #1)

Is just about the MOST brilliant author I’ve ever come across. Her characterization techniques and world building are UNMATCHED. Her As the World Dies series (zombies) is ABSOLUTELY EPIC! There’s nothing else I can really say about it… You just need to READ it. Yesterday.

Her Vampire Bride series, is a gothic, horror tale set in the Regency period about the newest and VERY unwilling bride of Vlad Dracula. This is vampire horror as it should be. No sparkly vamps for this chick.

Her newest futuristic (I’d say it’s more dystopian) zombie book – The Last Bastion of the Living that has absolutely NOTHING to do with her other zombie series is ALSO absolutely MESMERIZING!

Dust & Decay (Benny Imura, #2)Jonathan Maberry

Jonathan Maberry will break your heart, sew it back together, shock you, have your mouth hanging open and leave you reading through your tears.

He. Is. The. KING. The KING of freaking zombies. Zombie Young Adult, Zombie Adult Horror… Jonathan Maberry is the end all, be all when it comes to zombies. Hell, when it comes to writing in GENERAL!

J.R. Ward

One of my VERY first addictions was J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I LOVE these books… Adult, vampires… And super hot sex. 😉 what’s not to like right?

Exiled (The Protector, #1)M.R. Merrick

EPIC. Absolute and utter EPICNESS. His Protector’s series, which includes Exiled (Protector #1) and Shift (Protector #2) are action/adventure/fantasy/paranormal … At its VERY best. And the fight scenes… *breath-taking*

His characters are BEYOND amazing. Not just the main characters… The secondary characters, even the inconsequential characters will leave you desperate for more!

M. Leighton

M. Leighton brings something NEW and unexpected into EVERY book I’ve read by her! Every time you think “this is it… and it’s AWESOME!” she throws a freaking fast, curve ball and BAM! It’s unbelievable!

J.L. Bryan

Fairy Metal Thunder

J.L. Bryan is entirely AMAZING. His range of ability is unmatched. He completely RIPPED my heart out in his Paranormals series. Jenny Pox (Paranormals #1) remains one of my all time favorite books to this day. You want REAL emotion, unrelenting devastation and heart-break? Go for Jenny Pox. (Quick note – Jenny Pox may sound like a YA read… but it’s very much NOT. Have you even seen the 1976 version of Carrie? Yeah.)

THEN after his terrifying Paranormal’s series, he breaks out with his Songs of Magic series. Um… picture this, SUPER badass unicorns, grumpy goblins that move in under your bed, an angry fairy queen, a teenage rock band playing with enchanted instruments… and a few jilted fairies! Absolutely freaking AWESOME! The Songs of Magic series is perfect for all ages… totally fun, light and beautifully written!

Rusty Fischer

If you’re looking for seriously FEEL good, hilariously awesome writing that will inevitably leave you with a smile on your face – pick up ANYTHING by Rusty Fischer!

These are only a FEW of my FAVS… alas I have a TON!!! 😉
