Prelude To Madness Tour: Interview With Noree Cosper

It’s my pleasure to bring you, my readers, an interview with the author of A Prescription for Delirium, Noree Cosper. I’ve gotten to know Noree for most of this year and have looked forward to reading her book from it’s first mention…then I got the chance to read an ARC last month: It was great! I can’t wait until it’s unleashed unto the world on December 1st.

Before I get to the interview, here’s a little bit about the book. That way you have some more to work with :)

Ninety years ago, Gabriella di Luca promised to protect the family of her dying lover. She failed to keep that promise.  She was too far away to stop the devil that murdered the eldest Van Helsing son. Years later, Gabby learns the devil has resurfaced. She arrives in Hampton, TX, determined to stop the devil before it can lay a bloody hand on the remaining three brothers.

However, madness is spreading through Hampton. She suspects the devil is using this madness to test a drug which has a side effect of demonic possession.  Gabby rushes to end the source of the madness only to fall victim to it. For a woman cursed with eternal life, dying is no threat. However, Gabby must stop the devil’s plot or risk losing her most precious possession: her mind.

A Prescription for Delirium is released on December 1st, 2012.

  • What is your background with demons? Did you have to do extensive research on the mythology A Prescription For Delirium follows.

    • I have always loved most things supernatural or mythological, so a lot off my background comes from the things accumulated in my head over the years. Still, I had to come up with a bit off research to build the history on the demons. *laughs* You could say it’s still growing. I did a lot of searches on the internet, especially about Solomon and his spirits. You see King Solomon bound demons when he was alive. Supposedly, during the 15th or 16th century a book was circulated that claimed have his methods. It is not said to be a fake. This was known as the Key of Solomon. I took a lot from there as well as myths from around the world. Then I added my own twist to work in my world.

  • The Flower of Hell is a short story you wrote for the collection Paramourtal: Tales of Undying Love and Loving the Undead. Did you write the story with the idea of it being a prequel to Prescription, or was the novel not even an idea at the time?

    • At the time I wrote “Flower of Hell” I was in the middle of a different series altogether. The thought of a novel crossed my mind, but I pushed it to the side altogether. Sad to say, the other series didn’t work out and I decided I wanted to play in Gabby’s world more.

  • Who was one of your favorite characters to write for the novel?

    • Gabby will always be my favorite.

  • What is your plan for the Van Helsing Organization series? How many book will there be. And if it won’t spoil anything, will it be focusing on this generation of Van Helsings or will it go farther?

    • I have vast plans for the Van Helsings. *chuckles* Ok, I’m partially joking. There is an underlying plot throughout the books that will show itself as they go on. It will focus on this generation. I’m planning for about 10 books or so, though after the first 6 books things aren’t as planned out.

  • Are there any authors who you can list that have influenced your writing? Who are some favorite authors that you read?

    • Early Laurell K Hamilton is a big influence. She introduced me to Urban Fantasy. My favorite is Neil Gaiman. I really aspire to be great like him. Recently, I’ve developed a love for Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files.

  • Aside from writing what are some of your hobbies?

    • Reading. Video Games, especially MMOs like “The Secret World.” I also enjoy table-top roleplaying like D&D and World of Darkness.

  • This seems to be a popular thing to ask authors and fans lately, so I’ll do it as well. If a movie for A Prescription For Delirium were to be made, who’d be some of the actors you’d want to see cast for the MCs?

    • I’m cheating these aren’t just actors but musicians as well. These are the people who fit best in my mind:
      • For Gabby I would chose Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil. If you follow me on twitter you know I have a slight obsession with her.

      • For Esais I would choose Brandon Routh. Superman to the rescue!

      • For Adrian I would choose Shooter Jennings. Another musician.

      • For Tres I would choose Andrei Andrei Aaliyah. He’s a Romanian Model.

      • For Marge I would choose Jennifer Morrison. Really her “Once Upon a Time” Version.

      • And last but no least, for John I’d pick Bradley Cooper. He has that easy going smile.

Noree Cosper loves writing about magic in the modern world. While growing up in Texas she constantly searched for mystical elements in the mundane. She buried her nose in both fiction and books about Wicca, Religion, and Mythology. Everyday became an adventure as she joined a group of role-players, acting out her fantasies of vampires, demons, and monsters living in the world.

She embraced her nerdom wholeheartedly.

Noree grew, but never left her love for fantasy and horror. Her dreams pushed her and her hand itched to write the visions she saw. So, with her fingers on the keys, she did what her heart had been telling her to do since childhood. She wrote.

Noree can be found stalking people on Twitter and Facebook.

Be sure to check out her website for news on her works and tidbits of information

She also likes to ramble about things magical and supernatural on her blog Trip the Eclipse.

Cinta Garcia Interviews Her Character Drofxo!

BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE FUNNY ADVENTURES OF LITTLE NANI
– MEET DROFXO -

When Little Nani entered my life, my world completely changed. Suddenly, I started meeting the most extraordinary characters, who became part of my daily life very soon. One of those amazing characters, who is one of Little Nani’s dearest friends, is Drofxo. He is kind of special. Why? Well, I decided to sit down with him and ask him some questions. Keep on reading and you will see why he is special.

Me: Hello, Drofxo. Thanks for accepting being interviewed by me.

Drofxo: Hello, Cinta. Well, I couldn’t say no, since you created me.

Me: Fair enough. So, I see you are drinking coffee… Wouldn’t you prefer a nice cup of tea?

Drofxo: Oh, no! I need coffee. I drink a lot of coffee. I am addicted to caffeine.

Me: Oh, I am sorry! I am sure that is too bad.

Drofxo: It also has good things. For example, thanks to coffee I met Little Nani.

Me: I am glad you mentioned that. I was just going to ask you how you happened to meet

Little Nani.

Drofxo: Let’s say that I was having problems with coffee, I went to her house, things

happened, and eventually we became friends. I cannot tell you more or I would spoil the story.

Me: No, no! We don’t like spoilers. Some people may wonder how come that Little Nani

became your friend since…

Drofxo: …since I am a Zombie? Yes, that can be a bit weird for most people, but not for

Little Nani. She doesn’t care about her friends’ appearance, as long as they are nice.

Me: That’s very sweet of Little Nani. Do you live close to Little Nani’s house?

Drofxo: Not too close. I live in a cave under the old bridge. I tried to live in the town, but

people was too scared of me, so I left the town and found my cave. But if I go near the forest, I can

see Little Nani’s house in the distance.

Me: That’s good, because you can visit her. What do you think about her magical skills?

Drofxo: (coughing nervously) Well, to be honest, I think that she needs a lot of improving.

She cannot pretend to do most of her spells without having properly studied them. However, I

cannot complain, since the spell she used with me was not too bad.

Me: But at least she has the best of intentions.

Drofxo: Oh, yeah, that’s for sure! And people forget about the mess she creates with her

magic because Little Nani is such a positive force that you cannot do another thing but like her.

Me: Aw, that was so nice of you. Do you think that people will enjoy reading about Little

Nani and her adventures?

Drofxo: If people like funny and somehow absurd stories that make them remember the

stories they read when they were kids, or if they have little children, or if they just have a very

young spirit, they will definitely enjoy the book.

Me: Thank you! So thank you for letting me interview you and I wish you have more

adventures with Little Nani.

Drofxo: Well, that depends on you! Will I appear in Little Nani and Her Friends (Volume

2)?

Me: Oh, I am sorry, but in the second book devoted to Little Nani’s adventures, she will

meet new friends, and all of them will be animals. But I am also writing a series of short stories

featuring Little Nani and some of the characters from Volume 1, and maybe you will appear there.

Do you like “choose-your-own-adventure” stories?

Drofxo: Yeah, I love them! I cannot wait till you finish those stories.

Me: Thanks! And thanks for coming.

Drofxo: It was my pleasure.

Drofxo left the room, leaving behind an empty coffee mug. And I started wondering, how many coffee mugs does he have so he doesn’t mind leaving one behind? Maybe he just forgot about it? The solution to these questions is in the story, and I won’t spoil it for you.

Unlikely Allies Tour!!! Interview With Tiffany King & Review

Today I have the pleasure of being part of Tiffany King’s blog tour for her newest novel Unlikely Allies. This tour was put together with the help of the amazing Valerie over at Stuck In Books. Make sure to check out the rest of the stop here and be sure to enter the giveaway for a  Kindle Paperwhite & an ebook copy of Unlikely Allies!

For the stop here on A Life Among The Pages, I had the pleasure of interviewing the author. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and I can’t wait for you to read it. But before you get to that, here’s my interview of yet another home run of a book, Unlikely Allies.

__________

Title: Unlikely Allies (ARC)
Author: Tiffany King
Rating: 5/5 Stars

*This review is for an ARC copy obtained from the author

The first thing I’d like to mention is that I waited until the morning to write this review. I wanted so badly to write it immediately after finishing the book…but I think the review would have looked like this: “HOLY F*** WHAT THE WHO AWGJADF AKDFGARGKL SHE DID WHA FDKJ KFMG OMG AMAZING…” And so on. Instead, as I do for many reviews that leave me with that reaction, I wait a few hours or overnight to absorb all of it.

I have yet to be disappointed by a book of Tiffany King’s so far. I’ve read both Wishing For Someday Soon and Forever Changed earlier this year. They both blew me away. This book lived up to this author’s previous standards.

What I was initially drawn in by was the characters. In the first few chapters that’s what kept me reading the most. Kimberly, the main character, is very likable. I especially like the artistic side she has. Through this, King was able to capture the beautiful settings in the novel.

There were many characters that I fell in love with. One of them was Amy (of course). When the reader meets her, it’s hard to not like her. She reminds me of a character out of Gilmore Girls. Since I love the fast-talking, eccentric, always a great friend personality of characters like Rory, Lorelai, Lane, and Sooki…Amy was a perfect match for a reader like me. I also really liked Rick. The story could have gone a different way, if King had given him a different personality or reaction to the situation at hand. I was surprised and pleased to get to know the loving man and new father that is Rick.

Since this book is set mainly in a summer camp for kids, it is only natural that there are great younger characters as well. Tiffany King seems to have a natural talent for touching the reader’s heart through these young characters. In her past books this is true, and she’s done it again in Unlikely Allies. These kids have gone through a lot in their lives. They are all children who are in the foster care system and haven’t known stability much. Camp Unlikely Allies was established to try to give children like them an opportunity at enjoying life and growing up.

Alyssa is one of the young characters that really touched me. She’s very closed off from others. She always has a wall up to everyone. The reader gets a little background on her and that’s when I wanted to just give her a huge hug. There’s a certain part of the story in which I was close to tears because of this little girl. That’s something King is also good at. Grabbing the reader in an emotional tractor-beam and playing with their hearts.

Now about the setting. It was a welcome change from earlier King books I’ve read. Most of it takes place in the mountains of Colorado. I’ve always wanted to go there myself, and the picture painted in my mind was beautiful. I think everything that’s great about being in the great outdoors enjoying nature was touched on here. While I don’t live in the Colorado wilderness, I do live in the wilderness for the most part, and I could picture myself easily going through some of the struggles that take place in Unlikely Allies.

What’s the main reason we’re here though? It’s not the characters or the setting is it? Maybe. I know a few readers will have picked this book up for the romance as well. AND the adventure. Both those elements are in this book. They actually go hand in hand. I was left baffled at times with the interaction between Kimberly and Mason. I questioned the relationship between them the entire time. It’s one of the reasons I had to keep reading. I needed to know who was going to strangle the other first, haha.

The struggled that they both go through later on in the book was great as well. I don’t know if King has been stranded and injured in the woods before, but I think she has written a very believable account of what it’d be like. I was left on edge the whole way through wondering what obstacle was going to arise next. Whether it was physical or emotional, everything kept me sympathizing for the characters.

I can’t say any more.  There’s just so much greatness in this book. If Tiffany King wasn’t one of my favorite authors out there already, she’d have made it on the list with this one. I’m eager to see how other readers enjoy the book once it’s released.

__________

And now the moment you’ve all been waiting for….here’s my interview with one of my favorite authors, Tiffany King.

1.       What was your reasoning for focusing on contemporary young adult novels lately, when your first three books, The Saving Angels series, were paranormal/romances?

No reason in particular except that I just have so many ideas in my head. I don’t purposely sit down and decide that the next book will be paranormal or contemporary. I just get inspired to write something and go with it. What I have done is write the types of books I like to read myself. I think variety is good anyway and now that Unlikely Allies is out, I’m thinking of trying something in the New Adult genre.

2.       You keep coming up with incredible and very unique book swag. I’m the proud owner of a variety of Tiffany King Swag. Do you have anything new and fun planned for Unlikely Allies?

I have the Unlikely Allies Postcards. What I’m really excited about is merchandise I am putting together that will be available on CaféPress. Look for that coming soon.

3.       Unlikely Allies is set in the mountain wilderness of Colorado. Do you have any real life experience in this setting? Do you enjoy camping?

I lived in Colorado for several years, but not in the mountains, although I have been to the mountains many times for hiking and things like that. As far as camping, that would be a hell to the no. I like air conditioning, and hate bugs. Now if you got me a sweet trailer with all the amenities? Now we’re talking, but, is that still camping?

4.       You’ve written many enjoyable characters in your books. Some of my favorites have been the younger ones. I fell in love with Megan in Forever Changed and Kevin from Wishing For Someday Soon. Now, in Unlikely Allies, the readers are introduced to Alyssa. What is the inspiration for these young loveable characters?

All my characters are a mix of different memories and inspirations from my childhood. Some of their traits were born from my own personality, while others come from my life’s experiences. The view of the world as seen through my character’s eyes is a large part of who I am today.

5.       I see you recommend many great books that you’ve read, on Twitter. How do you balance an abundant reading life with your writing life and with a family life as well?

I completely ignore my family. Kidding. Actually, life is a crazy juggling act sometimes, but luckily, I really enjoy what I do. Besides writing, the fact is that I am a huge fan of reading, that’s what started all this. As a matter of fact, one of the biggest perks of being in my position is all the fabulous authors I have had the pleasure of getting to know. There are some seriously talented people out there and they all inspire me every day.

6.       Aside from the fact that I know any upcoming releases from you will be praiseworthy, you also continue to wow your fans with beautiful book covers. Do you create these covers yourself or is there a Michelangelo of Book Covers that you use?

My sister-in-law did the original two covers for Meant to Be, and Forgotten Souls, but when we decided to go a different direction, it was out of the scope of what she was capable of. So, everything that you see now was done by the talented Stephanie Mooney.

7.       Lastly, a question that will always be asked of you since I can’t get enough. What should we expect to see from you in the future? (Even though you JUST released a great book, it doesn’t mean I can’t ask this, lol)

Oh my gosh. Well, let me start by saying that I hope everyone enjoys Unlikely Allies. From there, I have so many ideas. For my next book, I am venturing into the New Adult genre to write something a little spicy. After that, I pitched an idea to my husband for a Saving Angels spin-off that he absolutely flipped over, so that is down the road as well.

Interview with Miranda Stork And The Bassinville Witches Series

Miranda Stork is the author of the ongoing series The Bassinville Witches. It already has two installments and has already grabbed me in for the long-haul. I wanted to know a bit more about the series and what’s in store for the future, so instead of asking Miranda privately, I felt like asking her to share her answers with my readers.

__________

Hello Miranda, you’re no stranger to my blog lately. Because of that I’d like to skip all the “nice to have you here” crap and get to why we’re all here; you’re series of novellas, The Bassinville Witches. Would you like to introduce people who don’t know the series to it?

Charming, shall I get my own tea as well? Only kidding!……but not about the tea. The Bassinville Witches is basically an idea I had a couple of months ago. I wanted to create a series that was almost like a serial story publication of the Victorian era. On top of that, I’m Wiccan myself, and wanted to create something that was based on Wicca. Of course the series suspends belief a little; I certainly can’t do most of the things in the books! It follows Catherine, a young witch from England, now living in Louisiana in a Wiccan town, as she goes on the trail of twelve mystical stones. This isn’t your usual magical fairy story though, there’s kidnapping, sex, danger, and even murder!

Tea? You want tea? What kind of place do you think I run here?!?!?!? Just kidding, here’s some tea for you. Don’t mind the funny taste, that’s just a little whiskey. It might calm you down a little. Hands over the tea….and bottle.

Now back to the questions. So far you have two installments, With You in Spirit and Playing With Fire. I’ve enjoyed them both and eagerly await your next release. How many should readers expect to see in the series and what kind of release schedule are you planning? Will they all be monthly installments?

Yes, I’m going to have a novella in the series out every month, and there will be 12 altogether in the series, one out on the 20th of each month. The next one, ‘An Ill Wind’ is out 20th August. I may be compiling them in some way into special editions when all of them have come out.

Wow, an entire year of sex, murder, magic…and sex. I know what I’ll be doing during that time of the month. The 20th I mean, weirdo. I know what you thought I meant.

Why did you choose to write twelve serial novellas instead of, say, 3-4 novels. I can tell from the ending of Playing With Fire that the format gives a better chance for multiple cliffhangers while a series of novels would only allow for a few.

I hadn’t really decided how many to write when I started out, but when I began to write the first one, I realised I would have to choose how many. I needed enough that I would be able to fit in all the things I had planned, so I chose to it over a year, and do one every month. It does allow for more cliffhangers as well, as you say, which hopefully will keep the excitement hanging on.

It sure does have me excited. I’m still on the edge of my seat after that last one.

You are from across the pond, yet you decided to set the series in Louisiana. What was your reasoning for doing so?

I have visited New Orleans and a little of Louisiana some time ago, and absolutely fell in love with both places. Aside from the heat, which I really didn’t like, I loved the atmosphere and the laid-back attitude there. The magical eclecticness of New Orleans really stayed with me as well.

I’m glad you enjoyed it there. I’m not one for the heat either, so maybe I’ll stay away. Thanks for sharing about the series a bit. If you wouldn’t mind, I have just a few more questions for you.

Aside from The Bassinville Witches series you also have a novel entitled Conner and a story collection Craving. Would you mind telling my readers a little bit about them and any other projects you have in store for the future?

Well Conner was my debut novel, and the sequel, Erin comes out in September. Conner is a paranormal fantasy thriller about a young psychologist who gets given a strange new patient to work with. The patient believes he is a creature of legend-a werewolf. But it soon becomes clear that there is more to him than meets the eye. Craving is a collection of paranormal erotica; I wrote these because erotica sells quite well at the moment, and I was told my *ahem* ruder scenes in Conner were okay. So I thought, ‘why not’? As I said before, the sequel to Conner, come out on September 3rd, Erin. It continues the story on from Conner, and……well, I can’t say much more yet, unless you’ve read the first one! I’m also starting a new series in December, the Scarlet Rain series. It will be focussing on a futuristic dystopian society, where vampires have taken control of humans, and humans have become somewhat de-volved. The first book will be set in present day, but will set up the series, with events that lead to the futuristic society.

You have a variety of different paranormal and mythical creatures in your writing. What is your favorite to write about? And if you can let us know (without spoiling future Bassinville stories) of any creatures to look out for.?

Wow, that’s a good question. I think my favourite creatures I’ve written about so far would have to be werewolves. They aren’t used much in literature now, and when they are, they are normally Scottish ones with too much muscle and a centuries-old longing for some random women. I wanted to change that up a little and make them more like the animal that resides within them. Ooh, I can’t give any of that away! But I can tell you that I will be including some folk-lore form the Orkney Islands, and some creatures from Nordic legend as well. It’s going to be a big cast! :D

Darn it! I was hoping you’d let something slip out. You already have a great and growing cast in the series. I guess I’ll just have to be surprised. Let me get to the final question, now that I see the tea is gone…and where’d that bottle go? Oh, wait. There it is. Looks like it was in my hands the whole time.

As always, I like to leave the hardest question for the end of interviews. If I stump you, I’m sorry…just try to answer it to the best of your ability without making yourself look bad, please: If a kitten, a puppy, a wombat, and a giraffe walk into a bar….what day is it?

Well, I’ll admit I don’t know what day of the week it is, but that is one funky bar! When does the lion turn up? :)
