For a long time now, and much more intensely the last month or two, I’ve been working on putting together a collection of poetry. I think it’s going well now. I’m closing in on about the halfway mark of edits (the first round at least). Because of this and having a possible title in mind, I’d like to give you all a taste of what’ll be in the collection. Many of the poems already found on the blog will be in the collection as well. This one isn’t very new, but I haven’t released it yet…and today’s it’s taken on a slightly different form when I edited it. I’ll be sure to give out more updates on the collection when I have things to say. I hope you enjoy Fall Leaves. I think it’s appropriate for the weather we’ve been having lately.
Also the pic included here was taken this morning….when it was about 47 degrees Fahrenheit. Fall….or should I say winter is almost here
__________
Fall Leaves
Leaves smell different
as they fall
to the ground,
than when
growing on trees
in the springtime.
Cold, harsh
winters will come
down upon the leaves,
with a frozen smell of
the first cold rains
and wet snows
when flakes
drift down
on lover’s faces
On the grass
they are nestled
under leaves.
The sweet smell
remains,
a warm blanket,
embracing them.
This is wonderful, Robert! Can’t wait for your collection. It’s going to rock.
Thanks Ben!
I’m glad this one’s getting a great response. It was one of my favorites around the time I wrote it.
Beautiful. Can’t wait.
I LOVE this one!! I can’t wait for this collection. It will be perfect to have on display in my home
In my home as well
I’ll just have to make sure the cover is presentable enough for homes….should I go with that shirtless me idea I was contemplating? (Wow, someone’s full of himself)
Nicely done, Robert! I love the fall. Keep at it!
Beautiful!!!!! I love it!!!
Fall and trees are two of my favorite things. This is an excellent tribute!!
